The bar food is very good, the surprise is the salads. They are amazing.

The burgers were good, but the bar and staff itself went downhill the past few years

Fairly good bar grub. We sat outside on the street that was great for people watching, had a nice day with a cool breeze , very enjoyable. Party of 6 and everyone enjoyed what they had. Recommend this stop if you got the time

Would not recommend the pizza, not good tasting or made properly, over priced all of the pizzas (rating 0), besides being a little pricey sandwiches and fries are good.(rating 3.5)

Great potato skins and deep fried veggies!

My daughter and I stopped for lunch while shopping downtown. Fast service, lots of menus options, clean restroom and prices were reasonable. The food was good, fish and chips was perfect. We ordered the appetizer sampler and my only critique is that the pieces were so big, they didn't cook completely through and batter was raw inside. We'll definitely be back, but will skip the appetizers next time.

The food was good and so was the service. We appreciated that it was open on a Sunday as most of the stores in Tawas were closed.

It's got great potential as far as dive bars go but the service is seriously lacking. Could you find someone who actually wants to work there? Didn't try the food but quickly switched to wine after my first vodka cocktail failed to supply vodka.

We were hanging out feeling hungry stopped on by everyone was super nice, great beer selections. We had some of the best food in northern Michigan. 10/10 awesome prices and terrific food.

Nice customer's, great wait staff. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Clean restrooms which is a plus for me. If there clean chances are the kitchen is too.

I didn’t have a bad experience. It has potential. I’m not one to leave a bad review so I will give constructive criticism. I walked in and stood there for 10 minutes before anyone even looked at me and smiled to say, “ hello be right with you.” I didn’t mind the wait, but a simple acknowledgement would have been nice. Once I was finally seated, I waited over an hour on my food to get there. The servers didn’t seem happy to be there, and barely smiled or said hello to customers. I was even fine waiting an hour on my food, but it would have been nice to have the server come up and speak to me, smile, and say, “ I’m so sorry about the wait, is there anything I can get you while you wait?” Instead, not one server acknowledged my existence. Yes I gave four stars because everything else was fine. It’s a simple fix. Hire staff who have personality, who want to be there, and who know how to talk and communicate with customers. Personality would be a great requirement during an interview.

Stopped in for breakfast last Sunday morning. My boyfriend had blueberry pancakes, which he said were very good! I had a smoked sausage breakfast bowl. Very tasty, the potato cubes were so light and yummy! Coffee good too!

Wonderful place. I grew up here, literally! My grandparents owned this back when it was called the Tawas Rec. Complete with 4 bowling lanes and pre-automatic pin setters. 8 cents a game setting pins during the week, 10 cents on weekends!

Stopped in to have a beer and a sandwich at 3:30’pm Friday 8/14/20. Sat at the bar and was briefly greeted by a bartender. After waiting 15 Minutes, the wait staff was too busy doing shots at the bar to wait on us so we left. The wait staff should be fired for drinking while working and not waiting in customers. Will never go back!

Great food and service. There were 8 in our group, our waiter was fantastic with getting everyone's orders right. Our Food was hot and very tasty.

I went here with my Grandparents to have a nice birthday dinner with them as I do not see them very often. We sat ourselves down and talked, we had 2 great waitresses as one was in training. We were served our food which was delicious and had an amazing night. Overall great service at Barnacle Bill's.

Great food! Ahi tuna bites are fantastic! The breaded mushrooms are hand dipped - yum! Great food and reasonably priced!

This is a true old school style Michigan establishment. Ahi Tuna bites are not to be missed. They have ALL the good pub games. You can tell the locals come here.

Looks a little sketchy on the inside, but the food is great. I had the Philly cheese steak and the breaded colly flowers and it was great! The staff also was wearing masks. The wait was a little long though.

DJ is terrible, never plays requested songs. Only plays new age rap music.

Brisket sandwich was a square slab of fat over priced $5 for fries.

The fries were pretty good but other than that the brisket sandwich was a square chunk of fat and a man was loudly screaming. Waiter was very nice.

Was a very nice dinning experience. glass plates and such a nice presentation of your dinner AND it was very good.

Clam strips were great, lobster mac and cheese was good, and the cuban sandwich was good. However, we ordered a rib eye steak and it was still cold to the touch and completely rare in the inside. Sent it back and got the tuna bites, which were good. The person who ordered the steak is gluten free and had trouble finding anything safe to eat. Service was slow but we attributed it to a large party being held.

Barnacles is one of the best places in Tawas with some of the worst service. Love to come here, decent prices, decent atmosphere. But the bartenders just talk to each other and wander back and forth “looking” busy. No one acknowledges you when you come to the bar. After you wait for a few minutes, someone moseys up to you and asks if you’ve been helped. In no way do I ever feel like a priority as a patron here. All the bartenders seem miserable and unpersonable. They could not care less if you need anything. Also, the DJ is terrible. 😬

This place is always amazing! The staff are so efficient and really nice. The food is always phenomenal. You will never leave disappointed.
